Hello ,
at this point in time I am not permanently connected to the internet especially during the night and the weekends. So when a task is finished (and the PC is still working), the PC could not do any work for the grid. Is it possible to change the design of the grid, so that more than one task will be transmitted, when I am connected to the network? Several tasks could be closed and the next time, I am connecting back to the Internet all finished tasks can be transmitted. I know, that this is a tremendous change of the design of a grid, but maybe we can enhance the overall working time for the calculations. |

You can already do what you want, no need to change the grid design. How you do it depends on whether you are using the BOINC agent or the United Devices (UD) agent. Which one are you using?
----------------------------------------If BOINC then login to WGG website. Go My Grid->Device Manager->Device Profiles. Under BOINC Profiles click Default. Under Network Usage find the "Connect to network about every" value in the box. The default value is .1. Bump that up to .4. Click the SAVE button to save your profile. Now, back in BOINC, click the Projects tab then click Update. BOINC will then retrieve your updated profile from the website. The "Connect to network about every" value determines how many tasks your computer will download and hold in its cache, higher value means more cached tasks. The proper value for you depends on how fast your computer completes a task. Try .4 and then observe for a day. If .4 is not enough then try .8. Don't raise the value quickly, just a little at a time then observe. If you raise it too high then you'll cache more tasks than your computer can complete before the deadline. If you use UD instead of BOINC then you need to use UDMon instead of the above procedure. I don't use UDMon so I can't advise on it. Google to locate UDMon if you need it. My good fellow cruncher.....there is the official and WCG supported BOINC link solution, that can cache an x-time of work and continues while off-line, or the unsupported UD_Mon link which does same and functions as an add to the UD Agent. From experience, with BOINC you have a all in one solution, but loose the fancy 3D graph. BOINC is much faster and efficient, but requires a little bit more effort in studying the workings, which is no different with spending time on getting UD_Mon to work.
