On my computer my points read as 26,678 whereas the website reads over 1,700 points higher at 28,391. My average points per day is 545 so this equates to about two extra days work that I haven't done.
----------------------------------------Normally there's a difference of 3 or 4 points at most. Any ideas where the extra points came from? |

I see you have two device installations. Chances are, they haven't synchronised properly yet.
The extra device profile may have been created by accident. The numbers should sort themselves out automatically. |

Thanks, D, I've just checked my device manager and there is indeed a second device profileā¦
----------------------------------------The second device profile relates to one of my team members who has signed up just recently after having major problems understanding what to do. So somehow his points are being attributed to my name and they are still not showing up alongside his name in the team stats. What on earth has happened and can it be sorted out simply? |

There's no chance the points will be redistributed. Sorry. On the plus side, you've gained a few extra points yourself.
When a UD installation is registered under the wrong member name, the only (practical) solution is to uninstall, then reinstall with the correct name (or a new username). To avoid this happening in the future, don't release your password to anyone - not even to help them set up WCG. |

I've never given my password to anyone so I'm mystified as to how this happened.
----------------------------------------The person concerned has had major problems understanding what to do and I fear having to reinstall will be the last straw. He's not going to know what he did wrong first time so if he did uninstall the same thing would happen again. I'm on the UD agent, he's on BOINC. After the agent installed on his computer he asked if he should insert a project name to activate the software and I gave him these details from the BOINC help pages: Project URL: www.worldcommunitygrid.org Account Key: bacb12d1b05ed0ec55fcbb911c694bfc . It occurs to me now that this account key may have been specific to me? If this is the case could I get him to access the account key page himself to obtain a personal number (without the need to uninstall)? I'm not concerned about a 'fair' distribution of points, I just want to get the member up and running with as little hassle to him as possible. |

Oooooohh... right.
That's simpler, then. You're quite right - that's your account key, not his. Tell him to go here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/viewThankYouBoinc.do to get his own account key. Then, it's a two step process. From BOINC Manager, on the Projects tab, select the WCG project then click the "Detach" button. Second, reattach to WCG via the menu bar at the top: click Tools, then Attach to project. A wizard will start. Fill in the details provided on that page I linked to. If it works, then it should show his username in the Account column |
