I run a WCG client at work. I also want to use my home computer for that but i dont have an unternet connection at home. I am curious is that possible to:
1) install a WCG at home. 2) When i leave work i copy some files that are processed (in which all the calculations occur) to some storage 3)At home i start WCG client with files brought from work. My computer works all night and produces some result. 4)I copy the result and bring it to my office where WCG client sends it to WCG server Is that possible? Which files contain all the computations on the project? |

This is possible, but any misstep could invalidate the workunit you are processing. The agent must be exited first by minimizing it and right clicking on its icon to get to the "Exit" choice. Then you would have to watch using the Task manager to see that ud.exe and the project process(es) have finished executing. Then the entire install directory could be moved to another computer that also meets minimum hardware requirements for the project. You would have to be careful not to run the copy on the original machine accidentally during reboot or logging back on, otherwise this could lead to the loss of the work unit and require re-registering your agent or even reinstalling it. That is why moving the files rather than copying them would be safer. The same procedure would have to be used to move the directory back. The screen saver would not work on the second machine unless the UD.SCR file is also copied in the windows directory. Having said all of this, it is not officially supported and you would be doing this at your own risk.
