On windows98 there is such a problem: "The Grid Agent has encountered a problem while attempting to the Grid Serever. This may be occur if the Grid server cannot find any suitable workunits for your agent, because the grid server is offline for maintenance, or because your computer is not online."
My internet connecton works just fine but the WCG agent somewhy generates the message above and does not work. What could be done to fix this? |

There is a page here that explains the common causes of this error.
To help us solve this for you, perhaps you can tell us a little more about your cmputer? How much memory does it have? What security software do you use? If you are running Windows 98, it is possible this is an older computer and doesn't have enough memory to run any of the WCG projects. The minimum is 120MB, (or 250 for FAAH). Have you configured WCG to run only a single project? |

The computer has enough memory. This is for sure. The problem may be that this computer is connected to internet through another (second) computer. I tried to modify proxy for WCG Agent according to my browser proxy. But surprisingly my browser proxy fields in IE were empty :( It seems that IE does not use proxy settings (though I am sure I get access to internet through that second computer. Cause when second computer is off I cant connect to internet)

Yes, computers networked that way don't use a proxy. Your computer has a normal shared internet connection.
How much memory do you have? What firewall software (or hardware) are you using? |
