If a computers 'recent credit' is greater then 70 per cpu and it has had a result validated within the last 24 hours then it is deemed a reliable computer. About 11% of the computers using BOINC with World Community Grid meet this requirement. That seems to be enough machines to handle the 4th WUs. If it works for you then it works for me too ![]() |

TGrid can't be slowed to a crawl waiting the full 3 weeks for results from the handful of people out there who are running 10 projects on a Pentium 166 and conncected through dial-up. But we don't want anyone to feel like they are wasting their time crunching with an older machine either. It's a real balancing act to say the least. Well... At least I'm running on an AMD3200+ and connected through Broadband. But I am running ten projects. And I won't meet WCG's definition of "reliable" until I'm able to clear the BBC/CPDN WU. Which I've comitted to doing. But after that I'm giving them a break before I take up another, and we'll see how quickly I run through WCG WUs then. Which is fine. Not everyone needs to be part of the elite 11% "queue clean-up" crew. ![]() |

Hi random9q,
Apparently my AMD Sempron 3100+ manages to make the 'elite' club (even though the 3100+ rating is inflated). I sometimes get 4th work units. Looking over my results page, I see that I was issued a 4th work unit on 26 May for a work unit originally sent out on 22 May. But more recently, I was issued a 4th work unit on 28 May for a work unit that was sent out on 25 May! Only a 3 day delay! So I think that knreed is rapidly experimenting in the background, trying to locate the 'sweet spot'. Which means that a lot of our analysis and comment on this issue is theoretical. The ground keeps changing under our feet! Lawrence |
