When will they start to define these proteins?

After the 12 months estimated to complete this portion of the project?

I just hope they keep us up-to-date on some of the information they retrieve from us. I would love to hear if they found out of the function of certain proteins while we still had 10 months or so to go on the project (assuming that the total cpu time per day they require for this project is met).

Re: When will they start to define these proteins?

In reality this is just a tiny tiny piece in a much bigger puzzle. We are not exactly "defining" proteins here and it is not likely that any resultant data will be public until after completion of the project.

I'll let you come to your own conclusion of what might happen to the user base if this project completes and there are no other projects here to work on.

Re: When will they start to define these proteins?

Hi SteelDragon

After the 12 months estimated to complete this portion of the project? I just hope they keep us up-to-date on some of the information they retrieve from us. I would love to hear if they found out of the function of certain proteins while we still had 10 months or so to go on the project (assuming that the total cpu time per day they require for this project is met).

Yup what you said. I'd love to hear about the Cancer, Anthrax,
and smallpox projects I worked on at UD too.
Even if I'll never hear anything I'm sure this ia a Great Thing!

Keep on crunching!

Oh of course it is a great thing, but I am very interested in science news. The fact that I am involved makes it even more interesting and the fact that I may not hear anything is almost as horrible as being told my favorite series of books will no longer be continued and left without an ending for the story.

The difference is, however, that instead of it being a cliff-hanger for a great story, I simply like to listen to results, and then see if I can give something more back in the form of crunching from my own brain. It's a great feeling to know that my CPU is contributing, but it is an even greater feeling when your own brain contributes.
