I just reviewed my statistics page and it appears that the most recent update (as of 11/29/2004 06:00:01) to that page is in error. The figure given for total CPU time is reported as 0:011:05:14:16. That is, I think, the same value as it was yesterday before my system returned results at 11/29/2004 01:07:36. Under the Miscellaneous heading, it does indicate that my last results were returned 11/29/2004 01:07:36, about 5 hours before the statistics were updated. When those results were returned, the value of total CPU time reported on the local WCG Agent was increased to 0:012:00:23:31. Similarly, the Detailed Statistics show a total of 6028 points generated and my local Agent is showing 6494. I believe that my second system also returned a result yesterday at some point but I am not certain when that might have been since I don't really watch it. Anyway, someplace nearly 24 hours of CPU time appears to have not been added to my totals.

I had a further thought on this which might explain the statistics. The statistics are reported at 06:00 GMT each day. Do the statistics reflect results as of that time, or do they reflect only the results as of 24:00 the prior day? If they are as of 24:00 the prior day, that would explain the discrepancy I found.

----------------------------------------I find it common that results I send within 6-8 hours of the update do not get reflected in that update. However each time they get included in the next update. I don't know why but I do know that I have never lost any data. Hope this helps. <dataman> ![]() |

Hi, Dave. Yes to both or perhaps the second yes is maybe. The statistics are supposed to sum up the situation as of midnight GMT even though they are run at 0600 GMT. And I still think that my fifth result was returned around 2200 GMT but did not show up until the day after next on my points. Human fallibility keeps me slightly uncertain about that, but my current working assumption is that there is a lot going on in the database that we do not see. After all, it is designed to scale up to a huge number of transactions. I think that it takes time for a new entry in the database to make it onto all the lists. As long as it is not lost, I do not really care.

Dataman --
That kind of supports my suspicion that the statistics reported at 06:00 GMT reflect the results as of midnight GMT, although there is no indication of this in the text of the page reporting them. -- Dave |

----------------------------------------Could be. In a thread that Alther posted a few days ago, he indicated they may consider inter-day stat's updates after things "settle down". My submitted WU's are generally 1-2 behind what I've submitted. Like Lawrence, I don't much care about stat's as long as all my results are received. Have a good one ... <dataman> ![]() |

Fits my data also. The text is actually contradictory - in one place it says statistics were updated at 6:00 UTC, in another it says statistics were updated at 0:00 UTC. |

What's happened to the stats !!!!
----------------------------------------The stats update at ~6am GMT and they should include the previous days results up to 23:59 It takes, at the moment, around half an hour to crunch the results and post these to the website. It's 6:51 in the UK GMT and the stats have updated overnight my scores show that they were updated 0 hours ago but the number of wu completed seems to have increased but my points haven't. My current WU is 71% complete with a run time of 18 hours 15 mins so therefore my last wu was returned yesterday prior to 23:59 and the total on the agent shows 7410 points but the updated 0 hours ago results still shows 6907 points just like it did yesterday morning OK WCG what have you done with them .This is no encouragement See my as yet unanswered posts in "Smaller Work Units" and "How many proteins are contained in a work unit ?" Thread. The silence is deafening Dave ![]() |

I have reviewed my statistics page and I am now certain that it is in error. The reported values for CPU time, Points and Results Returned have remained the same as they were in my first post in this thread. Further, yesterday it stated that my last results were returned 11/29/2004 01:07:36. Today it indicates 11/29/2004 18:07:55. These two results do not appear when I list my statistics history. The most recent result listed there is from 11/28. My local agent now reports a total of 6897 points and 0:12:17:20:55. As I stated, the "My Statistics" page totals are unchanged from my first post in this thread.
This is definately a bug! |
