I notice it's listed in the "known issues" that stats were not updating properly over the last couple of days, but should have updated yesterday evening around 6:00 PM CDT (assuming my time-zone settings are right for the forums...I can't seem to find the setting)...I registered a new account yesterday during the outage, and have returned 2x Rosetta results and 1 FA@H result, and still have zero credit/zero results returned for my account...the last result was returned quite recently, so if the stats updater ran correctly last night, I should certainly have some credit listed by now, right?
Are stats still not updating globally, or is there an issue with my account? |

The stats do seem to be working properly now.
Individual user stats update every 6 hours. You, however, are using BOINC, and BOINC points are only assigned when the work unit is validated, not when it finishes. You can check on your result status on your result status page (it's under "devices"). Yours probably say "pending validation". |

Your account is fine - you have now returned 4 results. However, none of been validated yet. You can check the status of your results by visiting this page:
https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/viewBoincResults.do You can read more about validation and points on this page: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=linpointscalc |

Ah...so I have to wait for two others to return the result, and then I'll the credit will show up. Thanks for the info!

My stats are updating on your website, and as visible from the BOINC client, but curiously not here:
http://boinc.netsoft-online.com/get_user.php?cpid=[hidden]&html=1 I assume the problem is because netsoft-online isn't polling WCG. But I have no idea who is responsible for setting that up. I use the page to check up on what the current and cumulative balance is between projects running on my client. |

Check the home page, you will see that they are indeed polling WCG.
I'm not 100% certain they are handling the CPID correctly. The way this works is fiendishly complicated, but ultimately it's not your username but the email address you sign up with that determined what a "combined BOINC user" is. If you used a different email address to sign up for WCG with, then you should change it in your preferences, and wait a few days for everything to catch up. |

Huh. OK. I see that they're polling. Yet I'm still not seeing anything appear on the report-page for my CPID. And I'm quite positive I used the same email address verbatim accross all projects I've attached to. (I was merely sure of this, but now I've checked and verified this fact and I'm quite certain of it.)
I wonder what's up? Know of anything on the client's end that could confuse this? I had the projects page get screwed up a few weeks ago and the one project's home-page button was taking me to another project's home page and a few projects had been unlisted. (Without becoming unattached - I was still receiving work-units.) It eventually righted itself up - at least from what I can see - but might that have anything to do with it? |

I have posted about this in different threads with a better explanation. ![]() |

random9q, I was right. :+)
I did a search for your username, and it lists all the projects (including WCG), but WCG is showing a different CPID. I checked another stats site (BOINCStats) and the same thing is happening. So, double check your WCG CPID (it should be 9fba71335e5083fb829ce37175f1d818). If it is, then just wait for the stats sites to catch up. If not, then you should either wait, or you should contact the grid techs and ask them to change it for you. There is one other thing that affects the CPID. You must be running all the projects on at least one of your computers. If you have a single computer that is only attached to WCG, then the CPID will never line up with the rest. Another thing to consider: with so many projects, it is likely to take a while for BOINC to contact all of the projects to negotiate a CPID. I advise patience. :-) |

You sure were. :-)
I was wondering what was making WCG unique. And it's that it's assigned a different CPID to me than all other projects. I'm using a single computer for all of this, so - yes - I'm one of those crazy users who has 10 active projects on a single computer. That should simplify things since there's a single BOINC client on my end to negotiate with/via/through/for/whatever. I don't see - in a casual search - where in the WCG site I can email anyone for misc help on matters like this. On the other hand, even though it has been ten days since my client has returned its first result to WCG, I'm betting that my client hasn't contacted WCG that frequently, and so WCG can't have received that many promptings. I'll try hitting the "Update" button on my end maybe once a day for a few days and see if that gets WCG's back-end to renegotiate my CPID with the other sites such that the one WCG holds is truly my "cross project" identifier. Huh. I was noticing the "titling" used in the forum seems to depend on credit earned. Know off hand if that's cross-project credit or WCG credit? Not important if you don't. It's more just my idle curiosity wanting to know more about how things have been put together. And on a completely miscellaneous note, thanks for simply having the signature you do. You indirectly just potentially saved me from replacing my optical drives. Needlessly, even. It had been years since I've read UserFriendly, but your signature prompted me to. This: http://ars.userfriendly.org/cartoons/?id=20060416 Led me to this: http://www.glop.org/starforce/ And to this: http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_...;limit=1&limitstart=0 I'll just leave it by saying I used to play X3 and maybe hope to again if Enlight ever releases Egosoft to release a no-CD patch to the game. I use this same PC to do creative personal and professional projects from home, and there are some chances I'm disinclined to take with it. |
