I am currently using (In Preferences) Agent Version 3.0 (2842). Has anyone been updated automatically yet? If so, what version do you show so I can compare?
Thanks everyone! |

I am running Program Files/WorldCommunityGrid/ud_46113_0.dr/ WCGrid_Rosetta.exe 5,944 KB 11/24/2004 12:20 AM and ud_46113.exe 2,322 KB 11/25/2004 11:19 PM rather than the original ud_21380.exe 2,326KB 11/16/2004 11:02AM.
The Preferences screen shows Agent Version 3.0 (2842). I suspect that I have not been updated yet, but I have not been checking. |

I just checked my version of the agent and it says 3.0 (2842) just as yours does. This system completed a work unit about 2 hours ago, but I don't see evidence that the agent was updated when it sent the results in and got the new work unit it is working on. Perhaps one of the developers might be nice enough to leave an update in the forums to let us know how we might determine that we are running the new release.

I also connected about 30 minutes ago to the grid server on 2 machines and nothing has changed from an agent version perspective. Still running 3.0 (2842). I even tried to stop the apps and restart it to see if this would make any difference but it dorsn't. So my guess is that the new version was not yet released...........!!!! as ooposed to what was announced in an ealier post by the grid admin.

i had better add to my earlier post. I suspect the new version will be a new version of the Rosetta program rather than a new version of the UD Agent. That is why I gave the size and date on my instance of Rosetta.

The Rosetta executable is version 1.0.0.4 dated 11/24/2004 00:20. I am not sure what version it was before that. So I guess that I must have received the programm change mentionned by the grid admin

I am currently using (In Preferences) Agent Version 3.0 (2842). Has anyone been updated automatically yet? If so, what version do you show so I can compare? Thanks everyone! You are all getting confused between the Agent software and the actual application software. There was a bug in the application, not the agent, so the application was the only thing that needed updating. Your Agent software will remain the same at version 3.0 (2842). The application (WCGrid_Rosetta.exe) was updated along with it's associated graphics DLL for a minor unrelated fix. The fix is included in WCGrid_Rosetta.exe version 1.0.0.4. This information is not displayed anywhere on the agent, but it is available. While the agent is running, if you go to the ud_xxxxx.dir subdirectory beneath where you installed World Community Grid, you'll see the file WCGrid_Rosetta.exe. Right click on this and select Properties, then select the Version tab. If you don't have the updated version yet, you will receive it automatically the next time the agent communicates with the server. You may very well not notice anything different and you shouldn't. Remember, this is designed to run in the background, happily computing away doing its thing and have minimal impact on your day-to-day computing activities. Updates happen behind the scenes just like receiving new work units. The only indication that you received an update is downloading the next work unit took longer and it downloaded more data.

Right click?? OOPS, I should have right-clicked and looked at Properties instead of just looking at Windows Explorer! That would have told me that the new Rosetta program downloaded about 11:30 PM EST while I was signed in reading the Forum. I thought it would only happen when I completed the Work Unit.

Thanks for the clarity. It makes sense and all of my systems have been updated.
