Wonder if anyone can help.
When I install the agent, I click 'existing member' and type in my details. However, when the agent fires up, it has used by system login (ie my local login name) as my member name. And it won't download, agent paused etc etc. any ideas how I can fix this? I've been trying to get this crappy software to run on my machine for ages. Bring back the old FA@H - at least that just worked first time. Jeremy |

I think the software shows your pc login name until it communicates with the servers. Then it updates it on the main window of the agent. So there might be something blocking communications to server.worldcommunitygrid.org. If you have a firewall, perhaps it is blocking this. You should configure it to allow ud.exe access the above address over port 443. However, there are a number of other reasons your agent might be paused which are described at reasons for pause page

Thanks. That's all very well, but this only happens when I set my member details to be FA@H only. I can sign in with a new ID and get protiens to fold, but when I uncheck the relevant box on my account, uninstall, reinstall with the same member name, I get this block.
I just want to do FA@H - not protiens. I have a load of logins with WCG, none of which work, all with the same email address, and I am heartily sick of uninstalling and reinstalling the software just to tell it my new ID. |

Then it sounds like your problem is an under-powered computer. I quote from the "Pause" page you were linked to earlier:
Minimum requirements Each research project we run on the World Community Grid may have different minimum machines requirements. If your machine does not meet any of the requirements, the agent will not download work and show the "paused" message. From time to time, the agent will check with the server to see if new work is present meeting your system requirements. Visit the system requirements page for details. Also, be sure your machine has virtual memory enabled. Don't worry about running HPF units instead of FAAH units. The WCG load balancer will send more FAAH units to people crunching both types to compensate. I'm fairly sure I told you this before. Just believe it: FAAH requires more memory than HPF, and from what you tell me, your computer refuses to attempt FAAH units for this reason. Just to be quite clear, I will quote the minimum requirements for FAAH for you: For FightAIDS@Home, the minimum requirements are:
