Request for official update by the FA@H scientist

Many times I have enjoyed the regular updates of dr. Richard Bonneau on the progress made with the HPF1&2 projects.

In contrast I´m yet to discover an equivalent update for the FA@H project. May I request that the lead-scientist on the FA@H project within WCG checks out dr. Bonneau´s updates and tries to emulate these in this forum?

Kind regards

Good idea! Since many of us thought that we should be finished by now with 1a... Any tentative time-frames? Any promising compounds?

Re: Request for official update by the FA@H scientist

The last major news release was the 19 January 2006 newsletter at http://fightaidsathome.scripps.edu/news/vol1.html
The progress indicator at http://fightaidsathome.scripps.edu/ is still at 88% of Phase 1A. It was last updated from 77% to 88%. Scripps gets the results back in batches. We (WCG) do not send a batch back until we get a valid quorum for each work unit in that batch, so there can be a bit of delay.

My personal guess is that we are mostly crunching Phase 1B right now, but that is my own uninformed guess. We are trying to get out a general WCG update soon, but 'soon' is a variable concept.

Perhaps I'm looking for a more personal point of view on the project, with anekdotes, commentary and the occasional inside joke, just to make it a little bit more tangible than the official press release. We're not the press, we're the guys/gals who do "all the work".
Is there no equivalent of Richard Bonneau present at FA@H?

Are there no preliminary results? I (as I am sure most of you have) have engaged all my available computing power on FA@H. However, it is getting frustrating that there is silence from the scientist(s) on the Project....

i think there is probably not too much status today, probably just some papers being written or we are not finished crunching the present work. they have beeen good about putting out information, i would just wait a while.

Re: Request for official update by the FA@H scientist

I thought I saw somewhere on the site that Phase 1a was now complete (maybe on the home page?), but now I can't find that in the forums. Did I imagine it or was it just some pre-mature publicity? Would be nice to get a major update here on status and findings to date.

Re: Request for official update by the FA@H scientist

Very good to see a progress report.

But I agree: to keep us worker bees motivated, there should be a person in the research organization whose task would also include "communicating" (via this forum, for instance) with us.

It is always nice to hear from someone "inside". Now, it is easy to feel left alone.

Let's hope for an improvement in this respect!

Jukka
