I'm considering switching to the BOINC, so, is it possible to tell UD agent just send the data and not to try to get new unit?

I don't think it is. But don't worry about it, simply stop UD after it has just started a new unit.

No such facility exists within the UD agent. You will just have to pull the plug on it as Didactylos indicates. (You might want to keep an eye on it and do it just after you get a new work unit) Please see HERE for instructions.

When I did the switch from UD to BOINC, I was determined to do it without wasting a WU. I tried repeatedly to catch UD between sending the last result and downloading the next workunit, but it is impossible on a broadband connection!
----------------------------------------From other info in the forum, I downloaded and installed a prog called udmon.wcg. I think this is usually used for managing the download of multiple work units, something that is not neccessarily good for the grid. But it does have the facility to suspend the download of new work. http://udmon.sourceforge.net/ It was a bit fiddly, but it worked. UD uploaded my last completed WU and then stopped. I have not uninstalled the UD client yet - I just took it out of my Windows Startup group, so I could go back to it at any time. I know its probably a bit late for our friend's problem, but this may be of interest to others. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 2 times, last edit by Dirk Gently at Apr 3, 2006 8:09:19 PM] |
