Re: extra long work unit/s ?

Hi retep57,
We are not running any unannounced test runs for HPF2. You can read Dr. David Baker's journal about Rosetta@home here: http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/forum_thread.php?id=1177

You have simply run into an unusual protein in a configuration that converges very slowly.

My problem is that my computer starts geting lots of sleep during the summer. Here, in Florida, we have many thunderstorms. I don't leave my computer on for more than about 4 or 5 hours a day.

My computer is slow enough to begin with. Rosetta work units average 35 to 45 CPU hours. At about 80 hrs, I start to worry about the reporting deadline. I am using 40% of my resources for simap work units, but I would hate to "punish" simap for having short work units.

How do the FightAIDs@HOME work units compare to rosetta in time and or reporting deadlines? Do teams discus issues like this?

Jack

I only started this stuff about 3 weeks ago.

Re: extra long work unit/s ?

Click on Statistics - By Projects then select each project. Under Averages look at Run Time per Result.
HPF = 9 hours and 1 minute
FAAH = 9 hours and 5 minutes

Several months ago I used my calculator on the statistics for Yesterday and came up with a run time similar to the overall project average.

Thanks Lawrence

I will have to check out the average run times of more projects. My VIA C3 700 mhz CPU is a Intel Clone. I have been told that functionally it's equal to a 300 or 400 mhz Intel

I think that set points are also causing me a problem. My CPU runtime was 6:11 and completion was at 8.77% before I shut the computer down for the night. This morning my CPU runtime restarted at 4:42, while completion remained at 8.77%. My best explanation for the missing 90 minutes is widely placed set points.

Hopefully I will be back after the thunderstorm season or better yet when I get a new computer. I have had this one for about four years.
