Dear friends,
for some time I would be able to use a 4 CPU Power5 machine running under SuSE Linux (IBM OpenPower) for my FAAH project. I have found the boinc client from Mr. Urbat download page. The client has no GUI (manager). Here are my possibly stupid questions: 1) How do I attach to my current project/account ? 2) How do I know if the client will use all four CPUs ? 3) How do I setup things in SuSE so the client will always run, even after a shutdown ? Thank you for any help, Bob |

Hello rjalex,
The server has FightAIDS@Home work units configured for BOINC Linux x86 and BOINC Windows 32. We do not have anything for a POWER5 platform. It is not enough to have a BOINC client configured for a particular platform. It is also necessary to have the application program compiled for that platform. The POWER5 is super fast, but we cannot use it. ![]() Lawrence |

I hoped since WCG was backed by IBM and the POWER5 IBM OpenPower, which can run only Linux, not AIX, is also an IBM platform, the support would be there :-( This machine is starting to seem quite useless to me. :-( Bob |

Tell me about it. I have potential members with all sorts of IBM architecture flavours: AIX, P5, Solaris, ....
But people running more esoteric systems are usually more than happy to compile applications themselves. All we need is a solid cross-platform codebase, and the code itself.... |

And I would be more than happy to compile the application myself only AFAIU it is not available ... I wonder if there is anyone in IBM I can bug about this (I am an IBMer myself) :-) Bob |

Sorry, the code has to remain in the control of the World Community Grid support team. Even the slightest change in the code could render the research results useless. In addition, the license agreement that we have with the researchers for their code stipulate that only the World Community Grid support team can touch the code. If there are any more questions about this, please send an email to bbover3 at the support mailbox through the Contact Us feature. Thanks.
