Beats us in the sense that you guys are getting almost 3x as much points for crunching the same proteins? I think the points are climbing based upon time of calculation (my guess). Otherwise we'd have to assume that either a) South Africans were being given 3x the credit for the same work, or b) SA's are somehow being allotted proteins that return 3x the credit. Neither of these two assumptions strike me as credible, (unless ping time is being used to select protein size and the smaller proteins give the same credit as the larger).
In a less contentious vein, it's admirable to see people from all over the world pitching in on this project. |

The answer donotes where USA should have been if it wanted to break even. USA: 4282/4282 * 324.77273 = 324.77273 Canada: 4282/636 * 54.57143 = 367.41331 South Africa: 4282/35 * 7.875 = 936.45 As you can see, Canada beats USA by about 13% South Africa beats USA by about 188% Just food for thought. ------------------------------------------------------------- I assume that the third figures in the calculations are current population statistics. Having thought about the issue for a day, I've come to the conclusion that it is increasingly likely that the only South Africans to have even heard about this project would be geeks. In general geeks don't have crappy pcs. That could explain why the statistics for such a small minority would yield such figures. Btw. the figures were as up to date as the website would allow. They really need to make the site update every hour or so. Or at least say when the next update is scheduled.
Yeah, that's it... write a seperate UD app to calculate all the statistics. That will take the load off their servers.  |

The LONGER a result takes the more
points it gets. I got less points today than yesterday Although turned in 27 more results. The slower of my machines always get more points. |
