Closed Source World Community.

$ file boinc
boinc: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), for GNU/Linux 2.0.30, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), stripped

$ ldd ./boinc
./boinc: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GCC_3.0' not found (required by ./boinc)
./boinc: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.2' not found (required by ./boinc)
libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x40008000)
libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x4000c000)
libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0x400ef000)
libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0x4010e000)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x80000000)

Such technique can't solve (?my?) problem.
I Think you are just proprietary moneymakers! After several month using M$-based agent I'm quit! Good luck.

Whaaaat?

You have to explain your problem, you know. I would read your mind, but I'm too lazy today (it being Friday, you know?)

smile Re: Closed Source World Community.

If understand him correctly, Drand refers to his problem to start a boinc client on his machine to be an issue of his lacking or wrongly versioned local libraries. He was considering this to be a problem resulting from a lacking availability of the source code of the boinc application, which it indeed would be the case if boinc would be closed source as claimed, which it is not. Drand could have downloaded the client from boinc.berkeley.edu and could have compiled it locally to suit his platform. It is most likely that Drand has figured this out by himself in the meantime.

That said, it would of course be nice if we knew more about the source of the to-my-current-understanding-semi-closed-source FAAH application which is merely controlled by the full-open-source boinc client.
