Unless it relies on the users profile, which it doesnt appear to, you could launch it in the registry from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

I have had WCG running as a service on 3 machines.
1 machine has successfully processed a unit running as a service 1 machine seems to be running fine, but has not finished it's unit yet 1 machine (64 bit processor, on a 64 bit enabled OS) just is not happy, however I feel it's more the 117 bad units issue than the service. I am unsure what stoomart is suggesting, but here is what I did to get it running as a service: download srvany.exe from Microsoft, and instsrv start srvany.exe as a service, and pass UD.exe as the starting parameter to srvany.exe the above run as a service method was suggested in this thread, and the last entry in the topic has a great site for how-to instructions: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=217#1190 |
