Hallo,

I'm the leader of BOINC-LUBECA team. How can I remove an inactive member from my team?

Re: remove an inactive member of a team

You can't remove another member. If they are still contactable, it can be suggested that they join another team. They will then show up as retired from YOUR team.

Does this team want inactive members? It would help a team recruiting drive, but not our point totals. We have 9 inactive members of our own.

That's not good. Then WCG is the first BOINC-Project, where this function is not possible. Why I'm the team leader? I am very much disappointed! Perhaps you can change that in the next time!

WCG (HPF and FightAids@Home) are very new BOINC projects and previously ran only under the regular UD interface. There could always be some standard BOINC function that is not being done here yet.

In the regular UD interface (non-BOINC) it is not possible to remove members.

I'm understand. I know, WCG isn't a "normal" project jet. But sometimes you see a way to change this problem and the team-leader can manage the members of the teams. It's my wish ! smile

Re: remove an inactive member of a team

Hi. smile

As my fellow Community Admin ( Lewis Carroll ) pointed out above, there is no way to remove him/her.

From what little I know about it, due to the way the database is designed, it is necessary that a person’s membership in a team is recorded in the data base. It is also necessary that that record remains intact so that the points that that person contributed to the team remain with that team even after they leave.

To remove the person would cause all kinds of data integrity issues. It is important that things add up correctly across thousands of teams and hundreds of thousands of members. So, while I understand and sympathize with your concerns, there is no way to remove them without major design work. I doubt that it will happen in the foreseeable future.

straight face

Kind Regards and Thank You for Contributing! applause

We regularly look at the features of the 'standard' BOINC site and consider ways to bring the best of both together on our site. These changes will be implemented over time. In regards to this feature, we have not made a decision. However, there have been a number of requests to allow captains to be able to do more then simply edit the description and URL so we are looking at what we can do. As always - boarding new projects will take priority. Please feel free to discuss the features you would like to see and we assure you that we do read the forums and take note of requests by members.

Re: remove an inactive member of a team

Then, if you want opinions...

I don't feel any need to remove members. Why would I? However, when you implement an "active member" count (as has been mentioned in the past) you could provide filtered views, showing only active members. I think F@H does something like this.

And, just to keep those team images in mind: please please please come up with a workable solution - I suggested several ways it could be done before. /me wants my team image.
