confused Very, very, very slow

I have a 2,4 Ghz processor and 256 MB DDR SD-RAM. I have just downloaded my second task, but it seems like the agent never gets to 1%. It just keeps staying on 0% all the time. I have waited for about 2-3 hours now, and it still says 0.0 %. What's wrong here?

This could be related to the problem with aborted work units. That problem has been fixed so the next time your agent sends something to the grid, it should received good work units. If the problem persists, send a note through the "Contact Us" feature on the "About Us" page.

Re: Very, very, very slow

on the main screen in the agent, it shows integer percent progress, but it you look at the screen with the rotating molecule, it shows tenths of a percent progress.

I had set my disk usage to 10 GB, and progress was really slow. I set it to 1 GB and it was really fast. However, I got ten times the points for the workunit at 10GB than I got for the work unit at 1 GB. I think the highest points per processing time is with the higher disk setting, but progress can be slow.

the disk setting only has an effect when you download a new workunit, doesn't affect the current work unit in progress, so changing your disk setting won;t speed up the one you are currently crunching.

Don't worry, you're not the first. I got this problem before, then after staying at 0.0% for 6-10 hours, it will finally abort and download a new workunit. And not crediting you for any CPU time or points.. crying

Re: Very, very, very slow

I've got a 1.2 AthlonTB with 1.5 gigs of ram. So far I've had 5 works units. They have taken different times to finish, one took several days, the shortest only 12 hours or so. You might just have a nasty one at the moment.. smile

I didn't mess with any of the settings, so the disk space is at 1 gig, of which it's currently using a total of 16megs. I have it set to run all the time with screensaver set to none.
