Problems when adding new windows host

I've got 4 linux hosts under one account.

When i'm trying to add a new windows host to my acnt, error like "Couldn't connect to server" displays. Proxy settings are set coorectly - if i use another account for windows host - it's OK . So i have to use two accounts - one for linux hosts and the second for windows hosts.

Can it be validated ?

Re: Problems when adding new windows host

Perhaps one of the techs will be along and he/she will be able to tell just where you are in the process and what the problem is. I cannot. There are so many possibilities that I hesitate to even guess. I certainly could be wrong here but I don't think you have to have a different account. There are some instructions for installation on Windows here . It tells you how to get rid of the UD-based agent first..but you can ignore that. Sorry I cannot be of more help now.

Re: Problems when adding new windows host

Thanks, Robert.

I'm afraid that a bug of worldcommunitygrid windows agent. I've found another bad "feature" - it doesn't support multiprocessor systems.

So I've downloaded boinc.berkeley.edu windows agent:
http://morel.mit.edu/download/boinc/dl/boinc_5.2.13_windows_intelx86.exe

It perfectly works with 4 processors. And i had no problems with adding windows hosts to my existing account.

I'm afraid that worldcommunitygrid windows agent doesn't ask info like that!
It just asks for a valid username/password and host name.

Re: Problems when adding new windows host

Classic example of the complexity. Two windows agents tend to keep everyone confused. I have proposed that the Tech guys put together a little scripted (probably asp) page that people use to ask questions with. It would have drop-down boxes that would allow you to/remind you to identify your operating system, agent and project as applicable so someone can "zero-in" on problems quicker.

I am not sure whether or not they will be able to get to this in the short term; but I doubt it. They are a busy lot.

Thanks for Contributing to the WCG. It is a great cause. And glad you are going again. smile
