cool Re: Task CPU Time

If you are at 82% then you are getting there. All the Work Units that I have heard of failing to converge failed before they reached 10% or so. Anybody reading this post with different experience?

Re: Task CPU Time

A week or two ago there was a bunch of proteins that weren't 'converging'. Almost no one was going over 3%. We all thought it was borked. Turned out it was a batch of duds but I think people got more credit/time for those than for completed ones. It worked out and worked through anyway.

Your Agent window titled Member Information should have the points you earned for the result it returned. If there are no points, then something went wrong. Can you give us some more information?

Re: Task CPU Time

I don't know what kind of hardware you have, but it sounds like you got a tough work unit.

Its probally just my computer, but I hope it isnt. Its a pentium 3, 450mhz, 160mb ram, really a peice of crap...

115 hours and only 82 percent...

This computer is REALLY going to be slow processing ANY work. Rosetta itself takes ~300MB of virtual memory, so not only is the CPU slow, you'll be paging on top of that which will slow you down even more.

You'll be able to contribute, but it probably won't finish even the easiest workunits in under a week. Harder ones might take 3 or more weeks.

One thing you can do to help it is by changing the screen saver to something that doesn't take much CPU time, like the blank screensaver. As long as the agent is NOT set to run only as a screensaver, this will help a little.

Workunits vary quite a bit in the time it takes to complete them, as you have noticed.

Re: Task CPU Time

Once I lost a unit after 30% done. Increasing swap file by 200 MB helped.
