Task CPU Time

alright, I think I got what this whole thing does, but am having some problems. I left it on and running for 24 hours straight. Now when i look at it, it says only 1 hour and 40 min has been used. Also, if I goto the members area, it says that I have no points and no total CPU time.

I know that it doesnt update all the time, but it should once in 24 hours, right? Also, when I try to change the times that I want it to connect, I cant. I need to change them because my computer isnt connected to the internet all the time.

I hope that i can use this software and help you guys, but I dont want it running and wasting my CPU (what little i have left) if you arent even getting the info.

Re: Task CPU Time

It's likely that the program just reset; many of us have been having this problem. It completes a few percent of the workload, then resets and all the CPU spent beforehand is lost/not recorded.

It's possible that your results were transmitted after the site was updated. Do you see points and total CPU time in the agent window? If so, then the results were successfully sent and you were given appropriate credit. We're looking into updating the stats more frequently than once per day and the impact it might have on the servers. We'll let you know when that happens.

No. The agent only connects to the server when it has results (or errors) to send. Also, you do not have to create a special profile just for when your computer is connected to the Internet. If the agent can't connect to the server for whatever reason, it will continue to try until it can. You don't have to do anything. Custom profiles are for automatically limiting the times you want the agent to run and not run.

i still see nothing there, after it has been 94hours 37min (so the agent says). still no points on the site either. i dont think it has turned anything in yet. does it wait till the end of the task, then turn it in?
and when does it turn it in, like times during the day. my computer can only be connected from 15:00 to 20:00 UTC time.

The agent only communicates with the server when the task is completed. I don't know what kind of hardware you have, but it sounds like you got a tough work unit.

Don't worry if the agent can't connect, it will keep trying intermittently until it eventually connects. You don't have to do anything.
