Re: BOINC for Windows - FAAH or HPF

As far as I can tell, this setting is respected (this through my own experimentation). I would be interested in evidence to the contrary.

Regards all.

Re: BOINC for Windows - FAAH or HPF

You will only receive work for the projects that you have set on the My Projects. This is true for both the UD agent and the BOINC agent. By defaut, you will receive work for all projects.

As RT said - I would be very interested in evidence to the contrary as it would be a bug and we would like to fix it.

We are examing the possibility of allowing your application preferences to be set at the device level.

Kevin

Re: BOINC for Windows - FAAH or HPF

In "My Projects" i have selected just HPF and it works fine with UD, but when i attached with BOINC i got "faah 5.09". It is my first BOINC workunit, so it is under crunching at the moment.

After migrating to BOINC, you need to refresh this setting. For some reason, it doesn't migrate properly (looks like a bug, to me). Just go to the page and click "save".

Re: BOINC for Windows - FAAH or HPF

I changed my project preference to Human Proteome Folding only over three days ago and my machine is still downloading new faah work units.

At first I thought it simply had a few extras stored to work on but this machine puts out up to six results a day so it should be only Rosetta work units at this point in time and it's not.

I've also hit the save button several times as well.

Re: BOINC for Windows - FAAH or HPF

Try this: in BOINC Manager, select the WCG project, and hit the "update" button. Then switch to the messages view, and verify that it updated without any errors.

If this doesn't work, then hopefully one of the techs can look into it for you. Use the "Contact Us" link if nobody gets back to you.

I did that. Thank you I'll monitor the progress and see if the change takes hold now.

No error messages so I assume that's a good sign. :)

Alright I've monitored the agent for a while now and thought I had it but it just downloaded another faah work unit about two hours ago so obviously that method didn't work either.

I'm not going to lose sleep over it however if someone knows of a fix I'd be interested.

Thanks............... Spezi :)

Re: BOINC for Windows - FAAH or HPF

SPEZI,

Can you explain what steps you took to set your project preference? Can you give us the URL of the page that you set your project preferences from? I just examined the database and you were set to receive work from all projects.

In order to meet your needs I have made the change so that you will only receive Human Proteome Folding, however, I would like to understand what happened so that this can be avoided in the future.

Thanks a lot Kevin.

Originally when I installed the agent I simply left everything at default.

Last week I went in here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/v...ation.do?profileId=125235
where I unchecked the box that says "participate in all projects" and I also unchecked the FightAIDS@Home box then clicked on "save"
I did that several times over a three day period.

Hope that helps.

Oh and I also did the update project tip I was given in this thread. :)

Thanks again for your help Kevin it's very comforting to work with people who support a body. :)

BTW I do run 8 machines in case that factors into the process.
