there could be a feature in the latest version of boinc that would let you shut down boinc as soon as the check point has been saved, that would make it a lot easier than shutting it down and having your unit start over again the next time that boinc gets loaded up.

In FA@H, normal checkpoints are 4-8 minutes apart on a fast machine here. On the same machine, I have seen checkpoints as far apart as 56 minutes. (processor score = 238) What that means is that a machine near the 550Mhz end of the scale could see 3-4 hours between checkpoints on a few of the especially long workunits.

Ah, well let's post stats on my computer. I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 that I bought two months ago, new. Pentium M centrino processor @1.6GHz, 1GB ram, no clue as the the FSB or anything, but it's NOT a slow computer. I've had faster desktops, and a laptop for that matter, but it's definitely not lower line. It should checkpoint on 3 1/2 hours when it says 45% done, running continuously. I'm at work, so don't have access to my WU, but will check it when I get home and post it.
