Uploads

Having just completed my first aids, can anyone explain why the uploads are split into two?

Re: Uploads

The aids project returns two output files for each work unit processed. Perhaps that is what you are seeing. We have not packaged these together as one file for this project.

Re: Uploads

Yes, I've noticed that as well. Plus it seems that the two output files are much smaller than the output file returned for HPF. That could be handy for folks with slow or dail-up connections.

Re: Uploads

The file sizes of the two files being returned by Fight Aids @ Home vary so these numbers are just ball park numbers for the files being returned. But the log file runs about 450KB and the result file runs about 40KB. So in total for Fight Aids @ Home you will be returning around 500 KB of information and every byte is as important as the rest. biggrin

Both files are needed by the researchers.

Hope this helps.

Re: Uploads

Oh yes. It seems that HPF returns over 1MB of data typically so that's 2-3 times as much. I've seen past posts from users who's charges for broadband or such are based on throughput which means there may be folks that could opt for FAAH only and save money.
