cool How about allowing for flexible time schedules?

Maybe this has already been posted, but it would seem like a simple thing to allow more flexible scheduling for the program.
I prefer to only have the grid running at night, preferably between 10PM and 6AM. Unfortunately, the way things are set up now, the program will only allow me to use 12AM (midnight) as a starting time, with 6AM as the end time, since it somehow sees 10PM as coming after 6AM and is therefore not allowed.
Can we get this fixed? I could put in an additional 2 hours each night if it's fixed!

Re: How about allowing for flexible time schedules?

I saw another thread about this, admin wrote back saying they are working on an update so that users can schedule run-time across consecutive days. Unfortunately, I don't believe they mentioned any ETA for this upgrade.

Re: How about allowing for flexible time schedules?

Just want to add to this request: I really can't have this think smacking my machine while I'm working, but the way the profiles work now I can only block off the morning or the evening.

Re: How about allowing for flexible time schedules?

I agree. I want this to run only at night. I also noted that the changes to the schedule occur only when a new work unit is loaded. I don't understand why this is managed at the grid site and down loaded instead of being local to the machine, and immediatly effective. After all I may go on vacation once in a while and may want to let it run flat out while I'm gone.

cool Re: How about allowing for flexible time schedules?

Much to my amazement, I have just read through the entire Consolidated Feature Wish List at:
http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...?thread=614&offset=40
and have not seen this Feature mentioned on it. d oh

Someone want to add this one so that we can keep all the needed improvements numbered and together?

(Someone who is actually using it and has an idea of what sort of Scheduling Options are really needed by our members.)

Re: How about allowing for flexible time schedules?

Just want to add my two cents to this topic. I do not want to run WCG on Tuesday mornings as that is my main time for system maintenance/backup. I set up my profile accordingly, but now it will not run ANY morning (only Tuesday is checked as customized). If a simple thing like this cannot be programmed correctly, it makes you wonder about the validity of the results of all this computing effort!

confused Re: How about allowing for flexible time schedules?

Ed1p, this is something that no one else has mentioned. I suggest that you carefully recheck your device profile. Make sure that the local Agent is running that profile. [It is possible to carefully set up a profile and then to forget to assign it to a device.] If there is no obvious error, then use the 'Contact Us' to send an email with full details for the staff to look into.

Re: How about allowing for flexible time schedules?

Your device won't see your new schedule until it returns results from the current work unit it is working on. It should pick up the new schedule at that time. Could this possibly explain what you are seeing?
