Changing WCG specific settings screwsup Boinc Settings

I have found that anytime I change any WCG specific preferneces on the WCG site it screwsup the general settings also. I have to come back to Seti and make a change so that the proper settings get applied.

Boinc has a "General Preferences" section and a Project specific section. Most users set general setting and may only have one setting under each project i.e. REsource allocation to that specific project. On WCG these sections are not broken out. Also it doesn't pull the "General settings" from the Boinc repository like the other projects. So give a example of what happens.

Every time I make change to WCG preference all my clients revert to the "Default" settings. This is because WCG doesn't pull the "Generla preferences" and instead pushes down its default. As a result of this my dual cpu machines start using only 1 CPU. The machine that I have to run always run only when user is inactive. etc. To rectivfy this I go to the Seti site (it can be Einstien or CPDN) and save my general preferences again. Then I have to go and update the SETI project on each machine so that the right settings get applied. This is a pain as I have 7 machines that I need to do this on.

Hopefully this will get resolved soon.

This will not solve your problem, but can make your life easier:

Do you know BOINCView ?`

It's a magnificent Tool for managing BOINC-Boxes over a network.

Supporting BOINC, a great concept !

Thank you for pointing this out. We will be making a change so that your general preferences are only marked as updated if an actual change is made to them. This fix should be released within a week.
