Hello Noy,
Welcome to the World Community Grid.
First question: What operating system does your computer use? Did you download BOINC or the United Devices client.

Second question: Which project are you running? FightAIDS@Home or Human Proteome Folding project?

It could also just be one of the unusual workunits we see now and then. My current FA@H workunits is like that. After 42 minutes, it is 15.0% and has not yet taken a checkpoint. What that means is that if I restart the computer, it starts over and the work is lost. Why not leave it running?

Most workunits have more checkpoints, and I see one after every 4 to 8 minutes on a fast computer.

I looked up your machine. Because you have a slower processor, and probably because you have happened to run into one of the more difficult genes being processed, the time between checkpoints can be rather long on your machine. The application saves its state every so often so that if you shut down and resume, it can resume from the last such checkpoint. Unfortunately, you are not leaving your machine on long enough to reach the next checkpoint. So, when you start the machine again, it is resuming from the last checkpoint (at 9%).

There are two solutions in this case. One is to just leave your machine on overnight or continuously and that should probably get it to the next checkpoint and beyond. The other less desireable solution would be to go to a new work unit and abandon the one your machine is working on, but it could happen on the next one too. To do this you would have to use your Task Manager to end the wcgrid_rosetta process. For an average device (about 1.8ghz currently on our grid) the maximum time between checkpoints is about one hour, but normally just a few minutes. Your machine is considerably slower so this time could be as long as 10 hours or even more if there is other activity on your computer. We hope to make enhancements some day which would let us send easier work units to slower machines like yours, but for now we have to live with this. Sorry.

Re: Hello

My FA@H machines are AMD64 4000+ and AMD64 3400+, both with processor score=235. Memory is 2Gb and 1.5Gb respectively, so they have plenty. They are 2.4GHz, which can keep up with a 3.2GHz Pentium. They are completing 5-6 workunits per day, each. The workunit I was looking at above was checkpointing every 51 minutes. Machines close to the minimum 550MHz could have a real problem if they only want to run part time, and the checkpoint only appears every 4 to 8 hours or so.

It's not every workunit that displays this characteristic, but I see ones like this one every now and then. It only had 6 checkpoints for the whole thing, one every 16.5%. Normally these machines will checkpoint every 4 minutes on a fast workunit or every 8 minutes on a medium one. Every workunit is different.
