100% CPU?

Hello,

When I Ctrl + Alt + Del, I see 100% Cpu Usage. When I have 512 MB of RAM. It says on your recommendations page that your computer should have 300 something RAM. How much does your project actually use? And would this still happen if I bought a 4 gigabytes of RAM and an AMD FX7? It don't cost alot I think.

Later,

Re: 100% CPU?

Please refer to this FAQ about why your computer is running at 100%

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=cpuuse#33

As for the memory, having 512MB is more than enough to run World Community Grid agent. If you feel your computer needs a little more boost for everyday use you can double that two 1GB of RAM before jumping up to 4GB. Hope this helps.

biggrin Re: 100% CPU?

it is normal. the process runs at the lowest priority, so the real effect on your day to day performance is negligible. Since your other tasks, notepad, firefox have normal priority, they preempt the process that is crunching. My cpu has been running at 100% for 59 days with no ill effects. Just keep any eye on your cooling to make sure that your fans can handle 100% cpu for weeks on end. I had to tweak my mobo to run the fan at full speed.

I broke 100k points today... laughing

My Accumulated Points: 100,146
My Current Ranking: 14,119

Running 1 month, 29 days. biggrin
