I'm considering moving my team (http://www.grid.org/services/teams/team.htm?i...A2-44DD-8CEB-0430F7F7917F) from "grid.ord" between the WCG and "folding@home." Maybe someoine can answer a very important question for me.
My biggest complaint about "grid.org" was the lack of control afforded team captains. Over time members unfortunately come and go and I had no capability to retire members who had discontinued thier support of the project. I felt UD ignored this issue so they could artificially inflate thier membership and agent numbers. I realize you use the same engine as UD and therefore will likely have the same limitation but I'd like to know if WCG has expanded the capabilities of team captains or maintains the same agenda to inflate membership and agent numbers? |

The UD.exe interface engine is the same except for some minor differences. Treatment of teams is the same. You can't really "move" it over here, except to convince members to withdraw from that one, uninstall software, and reinstall software here and rejoin a local team or start one as was done with Easynews.
----------------------------------------Most effort is being paid to the new BOINC part(s) of the projects and finishing and starting new projects like FightAids@home (already running) or a possible new cancer type project in early 2006. BOINC is already running for Rosetta/HPF and it is being worked on for FightAids@home. I suspect that little time would be available to change the team interaction or team interface. You are always going to have retiring or inactive members. After all, you are proposing to do the same yourself. There is really no mechanism to handle replacements for a retiring or inactive team captain either, but it can happen. WCG can not speak for grid.org and folding@home, really totally other projects. WCG can only hope that your experiences with this project and forum are favorable. [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 9, 2006 2:42:57 AM] |
