i would like to ask if there is a possibilty to create also special 'my grid'-site for BOINC users, because for many of us, WCG isn't our first, and only project which we are participating in, and this website don't allow us to fully control our account. i'd like to propose look of any oher 'your account' website at any project (for instance einstein or rosetta).
What do you think about it? |

I am not quite sure what to tell you on this point. It was the intent of the WCG team to add BOINC so that WCG projects could be run by persons of the LINUX persuasion.
----------------------------------------![]() In the meantime, the staff has been off working on other things such as the FAAH which they recently brought on board. It is my belief that they will provide all the functionality that is necessary to fully participate as part of the BOINC community but that this will take more time than many of the BOINC community would like. Just when these capabilities will be along, I do not know, but I suspect it will be in the first quarter of this year. Will everything you want be there…only time will tell. I apologize for not giving you a more specific answer but I just don’t have one. Please keep watching the member news portion of this site. Regards and Thanks for Contributing! |

You can set all of your device preferences on this page:
http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/viewProfiles.do The next critical function we are implementing is the result status page. I will be working on that as soon as I finish going through the forums. We are looking at allow users to attach using their member name and password rather then account key and also exporting team BOINC stats. Beyond these features - what are you looking for? |

hm... i think that when you'll include those statistics of WU, it will be alright! although, i will be happy, if there were even more options. of course, i know, that it has to take time, so don't hurry. it's better when it's done well, then quickly;)

It would be nice IF the website specifically gave the user the choice of using either the UD client or the Boinc client (In the specific case of a windows user). As it stands now, the windows user approaches the site not knowing that they can use Boinc and assumes that they must use the UD Client. Some simply leave at that point because of their desire to only use Boinc for crunching multiple projects. ![]() |

Remember911,
The distinction is definitely something we've thought about. It's hard to provide directions/options to everyone in a way they can all understand it. Perhaps when we've got more time to think about how to market it, we will figure out a better way to organize the info. |

We agree this is a bit confusing for BOINC users, but haven't changed anything until we get FAAH for BOINC running-- otherwise it becomes very confusing to describe what combinations of projects and Grid software work together. We're very close to deploying FAAH/BOINC. At that point we'll update the Join Now page to make it more clear.
Thanks, |
