Hello,
I run BOINC on a Linux box without any problems. I want to add another machine to my username. I tried to install the windows client on a 2GHZ Athlon with 1Gig of memory. A screen came up and I chose the click here if you are an existing member option. I then entered the same username, password and email address that is used on the linux machine. I then get an error message saying: Unable to connect to the grid server. Please try again. If you are using a proxy server, please verify the settings with your network administrator. I tried to make a new username and it worked - but I only want one username for all the machines I use. My internet connection is broadband using a router and ethernet to the PCs on the LAN. The firewall allows the program access to the internet on all ports. What can I do? Many thanks in advance, Terry. |

I just experienced the exact same problem. Any ideas out there?

...I then get an error message saying: Unable to connect to the grid server.... Did you try it a second time? Did you have good connectivity to the Internet when it happened? What happens if you completely turn your firewall off? Thanks. |

I seem to be having problems also. For the past few months since I joined, I have not had an unexplained problem. Now on my main home computer I am unable to complete a download, or the software go into sleep mode and then retires a download again. I have done a virus scan and disabled my firewall. Neither of these have helped. Should we uninstall and then reinstall the World Grid software?

Well, it seems all is fine now that I updated my profile to allow running of ALL PROJECTS. Hope this helps someone else.
