Re: fcgi -102 error trying to go through a proxy.

Hi deden,
Setting up BOINC to run through a proxy?
I am really ignorant.
Looking at the BOINC Wiki, I see this is listed as step 2C in the installation: http://boinc-doc.net/boinc-wiki/index.php?tit...o_A_BOINC_Powered_Project
That links to 'BOINC FAQ: Running BOINC behind a proxy server' at http://boinc-doc.net/boinc-wiki/index.php?tit...INC_behind_a_proxy_server

It's not very informative, but maybe it can get you started.

I hope so, anyway . .

What happens if you do a wget https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc/wcg_cgi/fcgi on that computer?

Can you try

ping secure.worldcommunitygrid.org

If it says something like 'ping: unknown host server.worldcommunitygrid.org' then it looks like your DNS server is not resolving the ip address.

If it does not resolve the name, can you put an entry into your host file at the end:

129.33.89.133 secure.worldcommunitygrid.org

And then retest attaching to the project and let us know what happens?

thanks,
Kevin

Re: fcgi -102 error trying to go through a proxy.

If you are running linux and a 5.x.x BOINC client, authenticating proxy support is broken right now. There is a fix as follows:

1. Open a terminal window
2. Run "./run_client"
3. Open a second terminal window
4. Run "./run_manager"
5. In BOINC manager, go to Options
6. Uncheck all proxy and socks boxes
7. Exit BOINC manager
8. In terminal window 2, run this command:

./boinc_cmd --set_proxy_settings <http_server_name> <http_server_port> <http_user_name> <http_user_passwd> <socks_server_name> <socks_server_port> <socks_version> <socks5_user_name> <socks5_user_passwd>

You must add a value for every parameter even if one or the other (proxy/socks) doesn't exist. Example:

./boinc_cmd --set_proxy_settings 10.1.1.1 80 user1 password 10.1.1.1 80 2 user1 password

Helpful hint: Don't forget the socks_version # (2 in the above example)

9. Close Terminal 2
10. Goto Terminal 1 and shutdown BOINC
11. Restart BOINC
12. Restart BOINC Manager

It should be working at this point. Do not turn proxy the settings back on in the manager (it will show there being no proxy configured) or it will break again and you will have to repeat the process. This only works for linux, not windows.

I submitted this as bug #415 at http://bbugs.axpr.net/ some time ago.

Good luck
