Re: Unlikely Nobel peace prize candidates?

If you think about it a bit, any leader who accepts his position of office and then uses this office for personal gain instead of promoting the well-being of his constituency has actually "stolen the election". Of course, if that were true then the inevitable conclusion would be that all elected officials are thieves. thinking

As I hope you can tell, personally I would prefer to try to stay somewhat on the topic/therme of: "Poking fun at ourselves while we poke fun at each other to promote laughter, insight and intelligence regardless of what the stated topic may be"

If some brave and enterprising member would like to start a new topic such as "A POLL: Who was a bigger idiot as President: Bill or George," I might even join in.

[Please note that the "Topic" may actually be entirely irrelevant. It is only the opportunity for having fun while employing intelligent satire/irony that is important. It really makes no difference what beliefs, if any, anyone might actually hold on the subject. Although it is far more challenging if the comments reflect the actual underlying beliefs.]

Caveat: It is not as easy as it appears. biggrin

Re: Unlikely Nobel peace prize candidates?

You evidently dont read the news--George W. Bush stole the election

So did Adolf if mem serves love struck

This is a great discussion to take our minds off the important work we are doing here. Just to clear the air, Adolf did win the election, after he and a man that would become Pope Pius XII, signed a peace treaty. The treaty stated that the very strong Catholic Coalition Party would not run any members so that Hitler could get elected. Just a little piece of history for you election buffs. devilish

Re: Unlikely Nobel peace prize candidates?

Speaking of George W. ...

HEADLINE: National Security Goes Primetime Soap wink

So on the one side we have the revered members of Congress who just found out that the Administration has the ability to have been listening to their "private little chit-chat."

On the other side you have the Dudley Do-Rights, carrying a "Support The Troops" sign in one hand and a Bible in the other.

All the while you can just hear the members of the Supreme Court: "Please, please tell us that you guys aren't really going to dump another nasty little mess on our doorstep for us to try to clean up. Helloooo, is anybody home? This was suppossed to be a cushy academic gig. Why do you think we quit being lawyers?"

Then there are the legions of reporters ducking in and out of the fray, trying to bring every conceivable issue into the ensuing chaos in the hopes that they will be the ones to get a lock on the next hot angle that hooks the audience.

And Hollywood wonders why movie theater attendance is going down? You really have to love a country where the news is more entertaining than the movies. laughing peace

Re: Can You Spell PR?

The spokesman for the New York Transit Workers Union announced that its members were going to strike in large part because the transit workers are tired of not receiving the appreciation and respect that they deserve.

So, they call an illegal strike less than one week before Christmas. This way millions of people will have to struggle to get to work. Consumers will not be able to shop for their families during the peak holiday shopping period. The net economic effect will create hundreds of millions of dollars to over a billion dollars in lost revenues revenues for a City that was just finally recovering from the devastation of 9/11.

Who knows, perhaps they will finally get the recognition that they deserve, after all. biggrin

Ho, ho, ho! Merry Christmas!! wink

Re: Unlikely Nobel peace prize candidates?

Talking about elections:
who is the president if Iraq?
who is the president of Afganistan?
... all American imposed puppies.
And we are "taught" to believe in democracy (HA HA HA HA HA)

Except Switzerland, is there any other place that can be called a democracy? I doubt. :-(

Let's be franc, democracy nowadays is just about money.
Election? Thanks but no, thanks.

Republicans don't need PR, GD. They have God on their side. (Because it says so in the Bible. That's why!) tongue

If George W. would hire Bill C. as his press spokesman, the US could bomb whoever they wanted and be thanked for it. God forbid!

You see, it's all part of Donald's plan for developing a hi-tech, highly mobile, quick-strike, professional armed forces. Then he just dumps them in mud up to their chests with people shooting at them from every side. Now, that's strategy.

I just want to know: Why would anyone with a Joe Shmoe physique, walk around with their arms sticking out? It really looks ... odd.
