confused Devices Statistics not current

I use the Device Statistics to watch for problems with getting results submitted. I noticed that in the list some of my devices (Linux BOINC) are showing older dates for last submission but when I click on it for its history, it shows newer submissions in its history.

Is this a side effect of the submitted-but-ont-yet-confirmed results for the Linux agent?

Re: Devices Statistics not current

Hello hechlerg,
Yes. The results do not show up until they pass validation. We are working to finish implementing the complete BOINC system. When we are done, the results will show up after each update.

Re: Devices Statistics not current

Ok but what about the results that show up in the Device Statistics History ? They are not necessarily reflected in the Device Statistics page.

For example:

I have a device named tbcadm1a.
In the Device Statistics page, it shows tbcadm1a down at the bottom on the list with the last result submitted as 12/05/2005 00:14:50 .
When I click on tbcadm1a for details, it shows a submission on 12/08/2005 and 3 more on 12/13/2005 .

Yes, I have noticed the superior detail on the Device. I hope it is really current as of the last update, but I am not promising anything unless it is confirmed by someone on the staff who really knows. We are in transition right now. The old UD system works in a known way, but BOINC is still changing as it is implemented.

Re: Devices Statistics not current

Ok - I just spent an 30 minutes looking into this starting to believe that we had a bug. Turns out we don't (or at least this isn't one) - I'm just mentioning this becuase it is confusing (esp if it took me an 30 minutes to recognize my mistake)

For BOINC devices, the field Last Result Returned means exactly that - the date that the last result was returned for that device.

The Device Statistics History page shows the details for when a result was validated (not the date it was returned).

As such - your last result for that device was indeed on 12/05. However, some the results that you had previously returned were only validated on 12/08 and 12/13 thus you received points and were credited with them on the day that the result was validated.

Re: Devices Statistics not current

I found a couple of machines hanging around the water cooler too much. They tried to blame it on not being able to get through the firewall so I put gatekeepers on them.

Now I have to update them all every few weeks since I have to keep changing my password. I wish I could get this traffic to flow freely but it seems to open things up a little too much.

Anyone have luck with a proxy behind a firewall? That would reduce my authentication problems to just 1 box.
