Hi, I'm from the Channel Islands and would like to request that this be added to the country list, as it's affecting my profile on BOINC statistic sites, some are reporting that i'm from the United Kingdom because for this project i have United Kingdom selected because "Channel Islands" isn't an option

OK, i shall ask simply...
can "Channel Islands" be added to the country list? also WCG being new to boinc is no excuse, CI is included as a country in the boinc software, if the WCG admins didn't want to use the BOINC web interface, then that's their own choice, but at least intergrate it properly |

Toungue in cheek smart a** answer from last year... neither is cuba Self edited the a** to save nelsonc the effort Cuba is on the U.S. trade restriction list. https://www.pmdtc.org/country.htm Here's the Treasury embargo list http://www.treas.gov/offices/enforcement/ofac/sanctions/ Some countries there, like Vietnam, are recognized by WCG. Past trade restrictions are currently being removed. I don't know what WCG does if a current country ends up on a NEW restriction list. WCG still needs to decide what to do about these Crown Dependencies: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crown_dependency Guernsey, Jersey, Isle of Man None forms a part of the United Kingdom, being separate jurisdictions, nor do they form part of the European Union. European microstates http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_microstates Gibraltar is listed as a British Overseas Territory. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microstate microstates, including SMOM. ----------------------------------------This thread and your concern seems clear enough. All I can do is to expand on them. WCG techies may have been off for the holidays. When they see this they can decide to either make the change or not. also WCG being new to boinc is no excuse, CI is included as a country in the boinc software, if the WCG admins didn't want to use the BOINC web interface, then that's their own choice, but at least intergrate it properly To be proper, ISO 3166 has given CI to Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), another country in itself. I don't know how boinc will handle it or even whether the 2 digit codes make any difference to it. Some places list Channel Islands as a collective unit, and others separate the countries of Jersey and Guernsey (includes Alderney, Herm, Sark, Jethou, Les Ecrehou)[Edit 3 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 2, 2006 7:52:40 PM] |

Cuba is on the U.S. trade restriction list. https://www.pmdtc.org/country.htm Here's the Treasury embargo list http://www.treas.gov/offices/enforcement/ofac/sanctions/ Some countries there, like Vietnam, are recognized by WCG. Past trade restrictions are currently being removed. I don't know what WCG does if a current country ends up on a NEW restriction list. so, just because Cuba is in the U.S. trade restriction list it isn't listed in WCG? great idea of democracy you have there on the united states: if we don't like a country, better act like if it doesn't exist. |
