rose question

I asked a question of the staff, I'll post it and the reply below. here is the question, then the response, then the original email:

Problem Overview

Problem Type: Question
Description: I was wondering, I know this is sort of charity work, but is there any kind of money being made off of this. I am not greedy, its just that any monitary value my computers work has i would like donated to a charitable organization, like hurricain Katrina fund, or Make a wish foundation or something. please let me know if there is a profit being made. thank you very much
Dave

World Community Grid is totally non-profit. It's an IBM philanthropic initiative and IBM covers all cost of running and supporting the infrastructure.

The research is only run for non-profit organizations so there's no money being made there.

It is entirely possible that somewhere down the line, someone may make some money off of a drug that comes out of some study that is run on World Community Grid. However, if it help saves lives, then so be it.

It would also be fair for you to ask this question on the public forum: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/listthreads?forum=101

Thank you for participating.

Re: question

You might want to edit that to remove your email address.

Re: question

I'm not exactly sure why this post was necessary... There's about a billion other threads in the forums where people ask the same question (with different wording). The answer is always the same.

Re: question

I resemble that remark Scribe!

I try to scan the forums but sometimes there is just too much to read to go all the way back through all threads to find the answer. This is why FAQs and stickys with some good pointers helps us noobs.
