Hello Michael J Koerner,
tholjoh found it first: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=5106 It is still a mystery. What antivirus program are you running? Could you describe your system? You are Case #2, so we would appreciate any and all info. mycrofth |

Thanks for your help. I am in fact running CA anti virus. I may have found a fix on the forum. I will update the thread if it helps.
Thanks again! |

I would appreciate anything you can share on this. I ran the grid agent for weeks OK, then this week started getting the -202 error. We are running CA eTrust a/v, and apparently it perceives the grid agent as a virus. Running WinXP on pentium4.

Hello john.wiley,
----------------------------------------Here is a possible solution in ' Error occured: -202': http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=5106 Viktors cautions that we need a md5 checksum validating a UDTAPI.dll that is flagged by the antivirus software to really confirm this. Added: I suggest that future posts on this topic be made in the above thread. It is time to start consolidating the threads. mycrofth [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 9, 2005 8:23:18 PM] |

This fixed my problem. Thanks for your help.
eTrust offers the possibility to exclude certain files and directories from realtime scanning. Start Realtime Monitor Options Click the filters tab Click the Directory button Enter the path for the installation of the Grid Agent and click Add Click Ok and Ok again |

I encountered this error too on one of my machines tonight, although it wasn't on reinstall. I post my findings in case it is of use...
----------------------------------------I watched WCG download what looked like the average amount of data for a WU and then display the 'paused' message. In no time at all (seconds) it would then repeat the process in what looked like an endless loop. I went to the html page that the error message suggested and followed the instructions (minimise then double click to reopen) but the loop continued. Interestingly, all the data was from the Proteome project even though that machine usually gets the Aids project. I managed to fix the problem by- minimise the project window right click on the tray icon select Exit start the WCG agent again by running from the startup folder (new data was downloaded and imediately began processing) (agent has now completed that WU and has successfully started another) (both successfully loaded WUs are Proteome) I think it would be safe to assume that it was the agent that had become corrupted for some reason and not the new databecause all appears to be working now that the agent has been restarted. The -202 error indicates that the agent is not able to restore the udtapi.dll file, possibly because the virus checker has it locked, or that there are insufficient permissions, perhaps no disk space left or other such problem.
I would suggest you have the antivirus program update its virus signatures and then reboot your system. If you open the eTrust program, click on "Scanner" -> "Signature Update Options" -> "Download Now", this should update it within a few minutes. You can check if it has completed this by looking for a "Succeeded updateing ... signature.." log entry in View -> Log Viewer -> General Events. |

...Further to my previous post, I have just watched another attempt at processing an HIV WU fail.
----------------------------------------The data is downloaded then immediately the agent goes into pause. I restarted the device by the recommended method (minimise and dbl click), but each time a new HIV WU was downloaded, the pause came back. On the forth try, the agent downloaded a Proteome WU and the agent is now successfully crunching again. I have checked my AV and it is fully up to date. Other machines that are running HIV are also running a different AV program. Maybe it is this machine and particular AV program combination that is having the problem (although the other machines that should be affected by this have the same mobo and almost the same CPU and memory configurations). I could change the AV prog on this machine, but chose to wait until- others confirm that they are having similar problems that this problem continues to manifest itself on this particular machine.
