I have a question regarding the results of the HPF project. I remember the link provided for the beta version of the results pointed to the Robetta server. This where Rosetta@Home results are stored as well. So my question is do Rosetta@Home and WCG contribute to the same results database. By this I don't mean that they are doing the same work. I only mean that their results are stored in the same place.

Hello thom217,
I have not been near Seattle since outprocessing through Ft. Lewis a third of a century ago, but I doubt it. The Human Proteome Folding project is being run out of the Institute for System Biology, which ought to be able to afford its own servers, rather than mooching off of Dr. David Baker's budget. The ISB will maintain the results database. Admittedly, Dr. Lars Malmstroem of the University of Washington is helping with formatting the results databases and is involved with the Baker Lab which runs the Robetta server at the University of Washington, but I do not think that cooperation extends to onerous extremes. Both grid.org and the World Community Grid are receiving work batches and returning results to the ISB. This is not a definitive answer, since I have no definite information. Jack ?Schonbrun? has posted a picture of the server farm at Baker Lab, UW but I have not seen a similar picture for the ISB server farm. Why not post a query at Rosetta@home? They would certainly know. mycrofth |
