OS Crash evaporated my GRID work unit.

confused My 2.8 Pentium PC crashed while working on an unusually large Grid project. The project was 84% done after 24 hours of work. The PC was restarted but the project evaporated along with the WCG points. That was the second lost project in 380 days.

It's always frustrating to loose any work, but the GRID software programers, in my experience, have a darn good product. applause

Re: OS Crash evaporated my GRID work unit.

If it was a "simple" crash, you will still get some credit for the work that has been done by your machine.

The WU will also be sent out to other people anyway (they are sent out to 4 different machines). This is to ensure that the results correlate and that a rogue result from (lets say) an overclocked machine don't lead to a wrong answer.

Thank you for a reply. It is refreshing to know the spirits in the dark veil of security ARE watching their treadmill hampsters.

The crash was a full lock up; no points/time for the work unit. I don't mess with over clocking for many reasons. Keep the Grid oiled up while we wait for more precious medical answers. flag flag flag
