is the grid curent speed around 15? teraflops?
----------------------------------------how many users would we need to top blue gene?:) would that be any good? for grid computing? was wondering:P alsoo is the wawe of new users coming mostly from the aids project whom run this project previously and now are migrating to this wcg platform? http://www.top500.org/lists/plists.php?Y=2005&M=06 [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 26, 2005 7:13:26 AM] |

thanks for the link
---------------------------------------- but i'm afraid that Blue Gene is getting faster...by the way, is there any version of WCG for SPARC/POWER/MIPS processors ? i believe workstations would have more "brut" power than bare PC (floating point, better SMT, better libraries...) or i'm wrong ? and in other hand, why not developp a WCG version for netBSD, wich would be more "portable" than any other version (perhaps ugly with no GUI but at least functionnal...). and a last question (sorry if it seems stupid i'm not tech) : is there any mean by wich WCG/BOINC could profit from gaming consoles (PS2/XBOX/GC/DC) and GPUs, as i heard that physics calculations/floating point that can be performed by AEGEA's PhysX chip could be as well done with the shaders of modern GPUs ? just wondering... ![]() ![]() |

Hi nealschim,
Right now, our next intended platform is Mac OS X. And I suspect it will be a while before we get that done. Then we will think about what will give us the greatest return for effort. Yes, we are aware of the PowerPC cores going into the next-generation game consoles. GPUs are not designed to (readily) store intermediate results, which greatly increases the effort to board an application for them Still, we are not ruling anything out. mycrofth |
