Greetings from Sydney. I already had WorldCommunityGrid agent installed running Protein Folding, no problems. I changed my settings to only be connected for FAAH.. now when it tries to download a workunit I get the message : "the grid agent has encountered a problem while attempting to connect... agent paused".
I have Win2k SP4, 256 meg ram, 1494 mhz AMD cpu. any suggestions ? thanks Rod |

Maybe a firewall (zonealarm or such)?

Hello rcbutcher,
Blank mind - - Lets experiment. If you change your profile again, does it start downloading HPF work units again? mycrofth |

Hi rcbutcher,
The first thing I think of is the minimum requirements at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=minimumreq FAAH requires 250 MB of system memory, whereas HPF can run in 120MB. Some systems dedicate some of their RAM to graphics or other subsystems, such as happened here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=4674 Could this be your problem? mycroifth |

Hi,
I have the same problem, i.e. can't download the FAAH but CAN dowload the folding stuff. I think its because my computer is 500mghtz instead of the recommended 550. If you go to the wcgrid.com/cause.html in the "minimum requirements" section it will explain this. So our computers may just be 50 mghtz short of the minimum requirements. Maybe we can ask them to change this? to check your mghtz go to the main screen in the agent, and click on "processor". Let me know! Rebelyell |

FAAH requires about 100MB more virtual RAM than HPF1, so you may want to check this setting and increase it.

i do think it's not enough RAM. even if your computer says it has 256 (more than the 250 required), part of it might be booked already.
if so, only thing to do is add 64+ more RAM. or somehow make the RAM requirements lower by about 50 MB? |

I increased memory to 512 meg (I only have 256 meg units) and now FAAH runs OK. It would be useful if the messages displayed by the program gave useful information instead of just saying there was a problem.
thanks for the help Rod |
