I've used BOINC for over a decade and have accumulated over 1 million points. But I may soon uninstall BOINC. I'm not going to subscribe to something so that I can use BOINC (Docker). I see there is a free option and an alternative program, but really! I don't want to devote an afternoon to figuring that stuff out. There surely is a good chance that I will end up impairing my laptop.

You don't need to install Docker. It's optional, and WCG will run without it.

None of my computers will run any WU without docker. how is this possible? my entire lab is down.

None of my computers will run any WU without docker. how is this possible? my entire lab is down. BOINC Central is the only BOINC project that requires Docker or Podman that I know of. Which BOINC projects are you running? As Paul mentioned, WCG currently has no Docker/Podman requirement. Be aware that WCG has no available work units right now for other reasons. |

my story, I also read the message put docker, hesitating a little and daring. I did it. I don't know if it works? but after looking at the statistics since September, nothing has been calculated for me. And how can I be, I don't know. I have children's cancer markers set in my subscription. and the weather in Africa. And when the VCG will have a Discord server for communications. It's much more convenient. than forums. greetings from Ukraine.

And there ABSOLUTELY NO NEED TO INSTALL DOCKER!This is just UC Berkeley (the folks that develop the actual BOINC software) pestering everyone for no reason. Just ignore it... I have children's cancer markers set in my subscription. and the weather in Africa. SCC is finished more than a year ago. Only MCM1 is still active, and ARP1 is supposed to come back too. But WCG is still struggling to get everything working after the transition to a new cloud system.And when the VCG will have a Discord server for communications. It's much more convenient. than forums. greetings from Ukraine. Hopefully never. It is highly debatable that this would more more convenient. ----------------------------------------, about you vision about discord server wcg comunity, its small but congvitive bias, good luck. in my case. I will probably start calculating something again when I buy an open СL video card. A video card (not necessarily сL, but in the context of distributed computing I need one) is an opportunity to put Windows 11. because Windows will disappear on my old hardware without a video card. and then I think I will return to calculating something. and so I have Bionic hanging in the tray.
