Under device information it says I am running a Petium 3 at 1.6 Ghz whereas the actual processor is a Pentium M (Centrino) running at 1.6 Ghz also it says I have .98 Gb of storage whereas the actual value is 19.8 Gb. Just wondering why.

Hello Knoton,
The default profile assigned on the original installation authorizes the World Community Grid to use a maximum of 1 GB of disk storage, which is far more than current projects need. Due to round up / round down and conversion factors, this shows up as 0.98 GB storage authorized. You can change this in the Device Profile on the website. Also, the processor identification subroutine in the Agent was out-of-date when we started running it in 2004. In fact, the Pentium-M is a modified and improved Pentium III architecture, so the subroutine is not far off. The important thing there is the speed that the benchmark actually runs at regardless of the processor type. The benchmark runs when you return a work unit, so right after installation it is incorrect (an arbitrary default value). |
