Regarding apparent oddities in work credit... One effect of the issues at the end of last month when the BOINC database went AWOL for over 24 hours was that a lot of work returned during that period wasn't reported until long after it was uploaded. With no work being validated during the outage, that would leave a hole :-) Another side-effect was that a couple of the WCG statistics runs didn't happen, so work that got reported and validated in the relatively brief period between the successful mid-day stats run before the outage and the outage itself wouldn't show up in WCG statistics. However, any credit earned would [eventually] be visible at places like BOINCstats... Cheers - Al. It shows up properly now on BOINCstats of the other sites like that.....however, it doesn't show up properly at world community grid. it doesn't have my work united done and other numbers like that correct. |

I seem to have this issue as well. My device and contributions are not showing up. I have quite a few tasks completed but they all have 'Ready to report" as their status. Perhaps I just need to be patient for a few more days???

I seem to have this issue as well. My device and contributions are not showing up. I have quite a few tasks completed but they all have 'Ready to report" as their status. Perhaps I just need to be patient for a few more days??? Well, when they show "ready to report" in the BOINC client, then WCG doesn't really know about them being finished yet. There were some server issues since some time yesterday, until someone in Toronto (on a weekend) kicked the tires again this afternoon (Pacific Time). Try hitting update for WCG on the "Projects" tab in the BOINC client.Furthermore, you really only get credit for a WU once it has been "validated" (or in rare occasions, "verfified"). And if your wingman (most WUs have a quorum of at least 2, meaning two crunchers have to return WUs that agree in the returned result) hasn't returned a WU yet, you have to wait as well. And if said wingman doesn't return a WU within the set deadline, another WU is send out to another cruncher (usually with an ending of _2 to _8), you have to wait some more (though the deadline on resends is shorter than the original 6 days)... If you are starting new, patience is a virtue. And that holds true specially for WCG... Ralf |

Everything seems to be working now. I guess it just takes a few days for things to sync up. Onward!

Everything seems to be working now. I guess it just takes a few days for things to sync up. Onward! Well, no, it isn't.![]() Since yesterday (and there are posts in the Chat about this as well), there is a serious hickup in the stats for the WCG website. The overall total for me for MCM1 is only half of what it should be (45 days or runtime vs. 90 days) for a single calendar day, and ARP1 is missing AT LEAST one week (more like 10-12days) from yesterday, as my hosts reported a bunch of WUs that were send out earlier last week. Also today's MCM1 total is a bit less than to be expected, after adding a new (old) host in the mix, and still now ARP1 showing up. Mind you, this is in the "Overview" stats only, all reported WUs for both MCM1 and ARP1 are showing up in the "Results" page, and beside that BOINCstats has some CloudFlare issues today, the stats for yesterday showed what I expected. Hope that someone in Toronto can look at this in the morning and retro actively fix this, specially for those ARP1 WUs it's a bit frustrating to lose pretty much two weeks in runtime (returned yesterday and today)... With apologies if what follows is already familiar...
----------------------------------------As far as I can tell, the figures associated with the "Activity over time" graph are based on what validated on the specified date, not what was reported as returned. This would make sense given the way WCG deals with daily statistics. So if there's a day where many more results were returned it will probably take a while to "catch up" -- the same might happen after a work drought as well. (And I can't see anything obviously wrong with my overview stats...) On the principal of "show your work"... As I use the APIs to check daily reported tasks I can try to match those numbers against the activity graph numbers. In my case, the ARP1 numbers are easier to check as I handle less than 30 tasks a day (and the daily numbers vary quite a lot!); looking at the last few days it's obvious that the activity graph tracks validated tasks (as does the associated CSV file): 2025-07-01: 1 reported, 1 in contribution CSV My MCM1 stuff doesn't have such obvious patterns as the volume of work I process daily is more consistent. Over the last few days the figures in the contribution CSV file have been within 50 either side of the reported task count. If I watch the total number of returned tasks in the various states on the way to full assimilation, the daily validation rate is fairly consistent over time, so such oscillations are expected! Cheers - Al. P.S. Sorry about the edits; I tried to preview the original "Quick reply" post and it posted it instead! [Edit 2 times, last edit by alanb1951 at Jul 14, 2025 6:49:52 AM] |

With apologies if what follows is already familiar... Well, Allan, you should know that I am around long enough to know how things work in regard to "reported" and "validated".As far as I can tell, the figures associated with the "Activity over time" graph are based on what validated on the specified date, not what was reported as returned. This would make sense given the way WCG deals with daily statistics. So if there's a day where many more results were returned it will probably take a while to "catch up" -- the same might happen after a work drought as well. (And I can't see anything obviously wrong with my overview stats...) Such a difference wouldn't explain an almost 50% drop from one day to the next (and it hasn't even properly caught up since) in regards to MCM1. There is always a little bit of fluctuation, but commonly not more than 5-10% (on a bad day), so a loss is immediately noticeable. And I was made aware of this when I read a couple of similar posts by relatively new WCG members, which I at first also attirbuted to the reported vs validated issue. But again, sorry, this doesn't explain an almost 50% drop, specially not without a "catchup" the next day (or two), like it was the case on June 28th, the last time WCG took a nose dive...

Fair enough, Ralf -- it was just a suggestion, not an attempt to insult your intelligence!
That said, if there was a general stats problem. I'm at a loss to explain why I didn't see anything unexpected in my result stats or post-validation state transition logs. I would also have expected a more general outpouring of posts on a large-scale issue. However, as WCG are unlikely to comment on this, I guess we'll never know the cause or why the effects didn't seem to be "global"... Cheers, Al. P.S. As you may have gathered, I don't like unexplained/unexplainable issues! |

Posting here from another thread:
It's happened again for 14 July UTC. In the last 12 hours, stats added to 'devices' but not anywhere else on wcg. That's 3 dates now for me where this has happened. 14 January, 12 July and 14 July. All were the second 12 hour period for the day. |
