Not getting enough work

I am running 8.0.2 (x64). Not all cores are being used. I have not set a limit. Is this a problem with my configuration? If so, where can I change it?

Are you getting any work? If so, it is most likely configured correctly if you had not already changed your configuration. Sometimes (especially the weekends) the work will not fill your cache (or even all cores). How many cores are you attempting to use?

Re: Not getting enough work

I do get some work occasionally, but not enough to run tasks on all cores. I happened during the work week as well as this weekend. Looking at Windows Task Manager, it appears that the system has 32 cores.

Re: Not getting enough work

under the my contribution heading is a listing for devices. This is where you set which projects you get and how many you get.

I will state that the system is limping at the moment and not many WUs are going out, so it is probably a server issue and not a client issue.

I have had no work downloaded since 18:09 UTC Sunday so it appears to be another outage at the server end.

WCG is dependant on Canada Universities’ data centre to host their systems and that is half way through a major upgrade with the whole data centre running on half the normal cores etc.

I had only a few tasks (4-8) in the afternoon (CDT), but now nothing.

I'm getting a steady supply of MCM with a 2-day cache.

You may want to increase your cache setting so the client asks for work more frequently.
