If I'm right,no, I don't think you are credited for the unsucessful WU. At least I was'nt!! Wasted so many hours.. Ive done quite a few of these starting over ones today, without so much as one point being added, so im going to assume you dont.. |

Looks like the problem may be corrected. The last WU I loaded was at 5:37 EST and been running for close to 7 hours now. I'm at 11% which is the furthest I've gotten in quite a while.

Me too.
---------------------------------------- It reloaded for the second time now. I left my computer on all day - and not one single point for it. Dear developers, there's something to IMPROVE here. You should give the users proper credit for the CPU time. Or at least tell them what happens. If you don't, it will lead to big frustration. Best regards, Jens

Could we please have some feedback from the World Community Grid technical folks. Can you please tell us why this problem is happening?

Therefore, two questions arise: 1. Why the Agent program does not tell the user that it does but leaves him to guess and burrow through the logs? 2. Is the time spent on the "unlucky" WUs added to the user's stats, and so do his "points" get an increase too? Hello from Italy. I agree with CopperKettle. Correction must be made for these points. Otherwise, precious PC working time may be lost due to disappointing people. Best Regards |

I'll add my voice to those with complaints about units restarting and no points being allocated. I have been on WU 21380 since yesterday. I has restarted several times now (stable winXPsp2 system, AMD XP3200, 1GB RAM, 10GB alloc storage, stable cable connection), never getting to more than 5% before restarting. The workunit isn't changing. No points are being awarded, worse, no results are being generated. How do I troubleshoot this?
The first two workunits ran to completion beautifully. Is there a recommended way to force it to move on to another workunit? Thx, dennis |

My machine must have been working on this for 24 hrs now and reset to 0% numerous times. I appreciate the above quotes but as the total cpu time and quotes are still reading zero, I can only assume none of my results are being returned to WCG.
Will turn the client off soon if I dont see/hear otherwise. |

I have been on WU 21380 since yesterday. Thx, dennis I've got a sub directory in my WorldCommunityGrid program folder that is labeled 21380. Doesn't seem likely that more than one device is working on the same WU => what is indicating to you that you're working on WU 21380? Thanks |

Rich Alther's explination is correct as I understand it ... with the exception of the credit for "points". I've had three teminate abnormaly and I could see no reflection in points that I can see and certinaly not "results". But then I am not into points ... would rather see all the WU's completed. But I am very disappointed in this launch of a project. Notice that we are all stuck at 11/16 (day of launch) in "Member News". LOL ...

Looks like I may be misinterpreting what it is (not) working on. Probably best for me to say I don't have any real knowledge of what it thinks it is doing. The only thing I can say for sure is that it does indeed use all my CPU, and the only measure I have that it is doing anything (the points system) says it has done nothing for days now.
In another thread, someone else mentioned a UD monitor. What is that, and does it help to understand what is going on with this? If so, where does one find a copy? |
