Out of curiosity I check WCG result history to see how things are going.
----------------------------------------I realized that 01/11/2025 has the highest, and since it was after months of migration, there are many work units that can be sent to work on. 01/11/2025 498:240:01:34:11 But lately it was roughly around 2xx to 300. I have no insider source but I feel that we have more hardware/users willing to do work units than there are work units to be worked on. I know there are beta testing going on so new research coming in. So is the "Advertising" need to be toward other scientist so that we have more research? Or was it hardware limitation on both WCG / the scientist themselves to generate work or store result? ( in first case, does WCG need more donation to buy hardware?) in 2nd case, I guess either donation to the scientist or more research needed. Anyway, I was just shocked that peak was 498 while the last 7 day average is 248. it seems that we are working at half capacity. Anyway, just an opinion and glad that there are new science coming in. |

So now I look into Beta Testing.
----------------------------------------04/25/2025 0:196:10:13:19 1,139,416 3,349 04/08/2021 0:000:00:01:58 5,187 1 I wonder if lack of new research going in somehow related to IBM letting go of WCG which now found a new home. Again, glad it started after a long slowdown. |

Apparently there is new hardware coming on line between now and July so that might help the one scenario.
New projects take time to get up and running, but first a bunch of scientists have to get a grant from somewhere which takes time if at all. Mike |

Again, glad it started after a long slowdown. That's undisputed, and it's been relayed by the Jurisica lab many times. Before IBM was putting putting money & resources into WCG. When you have more, you have the potential to do more.

Jurisca Lab needs to spend more time looking into using the BOINC (BUDA) client. That might help onboard new science more quickly.

They do need donations of money as well as our computer time. You can click the donations tab and find out more. I'm glad that the Jurisica Lab has been very transparent about what they need and what they have so far.
I'm glad WCG still exists and I have hope it will get better and do more in the future. I'm also glad Boinc is set up to so easily set up a backup project, until such time that WCG can fill all our machines. |
