I've read a lot of threads that say you can't use BOINC for windows with FAAH. Then I've seen some that say you can but it's not real stable.
Iv'e seen some things saying that BOICN for Win support is in the works and some that make it seems like it's right around the corner. Is there any official word on when BOINC for windows will officially support FAAH (or vice versa). I use Boinc right now to run other protein related things but AIDS just seems more real and useful right now so I'd love to switch to that... but all my machines are running Win XP with Boinc 4.x (I think). Thanks. |

It is coming to BOINC in the coming weeks as to how long I dont exactly know, however I am taking a wild guess that the Linux client may be 1st and then Windows will follow shortly after. My estimate is 4-6 weeks.

We are working on the port to BOINC now. Linux will be top priority.[Edit 1 times, last edit by knreed at Nov 22, 2005 10:11:30 PM] |

Just thought I'd see if there's any official update on running FA@H on Windows through Boinc yet... Maybe make a sticky thread or something that can be updated with new info as is becomes available?

According to information on this forum, it will likely be the end of January 2006 before Aids will be done for Boinc. I am at this moment using Boinc 5.2.13 the latest version which is better for doing Rosetta the genome that WCG are doing. As earlier versions seem to corrupt it, so I would download the new version of Boinc and then just wait until the new year.

From what I can tell, The this stuff (FAAH on LINUX BOINC) is scheduled to be implemented in the first quarter..middleish -- perhaps lateish.. It is hard to tell given the amount of ground that must be covered between now and then...and for some strange reason, the techs seem to think that they should get some time off for the holidays like normal people.
---------------------------------------- .The availability of FAAH on Windows BOINC will be sometime after that; I have no real clue as to when but I would think it should not be too long. These guys are good. And dedicated; we will get it as soon as they can possibly get it ready. ![]() |

The only thing lacking is encouragement for people to use the Boinc Client for Windows as well as a website which is more familiar to the Boinc Community. The current attractiveness of the WCG website is very, very nice but Boinc people don't understand devices which the grid system uses. This should at some future point be made less visible and more automatic to the Boinc Client User. Now in terms of when this happens is simply irrevalent except that more WU's could be contributed by Boinc users IF some of the points I have mentioned were in place today. You certainly can not complain about the responsiveness or the news which we all enjoy from WCG. It is exceptional and the other Boinc projects (with the possible exception of Einstein) could learn a thing or two from tech support here ![]() |

We are testing FAAH/BOINC internally. If all goes well with testing, it will be available end of January. We will most likely launch Linux and Windows at the same time.
Thanks, |

You guys have got to be really spoiling us with the support you provide. Just hope you have time left for a real life too! ![]() |
