Re: MAM Beta Availability

WCG should Server Abort all beta30 WUs 9800010 and greater. This is a colossal waste of CPU cycles.

Has anyone here seen anything above 9800009 validate? We have not.

EDIT: It seems that 9800025 and 9800019 seem to be getting past 0.5%. We will see if they complete.

Re: MAM Beta Availability

Talking about 9800025, I have one sitting at 90,575% for like 3 or maybe even 4 hours.

Re: MAM Beta Availability

I have just aborted all 16 9800014 tasks after I found out that they have been trying to get past 0.5% for 9-11 hours. (Linux tasks)

Re: MAM Beta Availability

Got 58 BETA MAM WUs across about a dozen different hosts (all Windows 7-11)

Some, like on an i5 seem to run very quick to +40% (within 18 min), while on some i7, there is at least one task that doesn't seem to progress past 0.5% in the same time.

So this BETA seems to be a very mixed bag... confused sad

Re: MAM Beta Availability

Two of my four Betas are above 0.5% (roughly 0.6% - 0.7%), two still at 0.5% after approximately 10hours (WIn 11, Ryzen 7-5000). I keep them running yet to see, wether they speed up exponentially, or not

Re: MAM Beta Availability

What I have seen is consistency within the "generations" across our systems and platforms (Windows and Linux). Some generations don't seem to work at all, some move slowly and consistently (9800008) but seem to finish, and other higher generations move QUICKLY to ~50-60% and then really slow down. We have LOTS of them in progress so we will update results as we get them.

BETA_BETA30_9800025_0777_0 ... I got this guy on one of my Linux machines. It finished in 0.29 hours, and it is valid.

BETA_BETA30_9800021_0005_1 ... Another Linux machine. It finished in 0.16 hours, and it is valid.

Re: MAM Beta Availability

On Windows 11, I got some MAM Beta work units within the last few days. About 5 tasks processed successfully. Most MAM tasks seem to take longer to process than MCM tasks and the elapsed time seems to differ.

I had to stop and restart the BOINC manager/client for an Alpha test using Windows and WSL. As a result, this MAM Beta task BETA_BETA30_9800009_0708_1 did not handle that well and did not restart, so maybe the checkpointing part of MAM needs further testing?

Re: MAM Beta Availability

Has anyone here seen anything above 9800009 validate? We have not.

BETA_BETA30_9800018_0680_1 Valid
BETA_BETA30_9800018_0320_1 Valid
BETA_BETA30_9800018_0002_0 Pending, but crunched successfully.
BETA_BETA30_9800010_0766_4 Running slowly, but checkpointing nicely every 10 minutes.
BETA_BETA30_9800010_0762_4 Running slowly, but checkpointing nicely every 10 minutes.

I think anything that doesn't checkpoint every 10-30 minutes can be aborted (some tasks checkpoint, but not pretty much exactly every 10 minutes like MCM).

Also use this in your app_config.xml to see the progress actually reported by the application and not the client trying to guess it after a while, in particular if the WU doesn't even reach 0,5%:

<app_config>
<app>
<name>beta30</name>
<fraction_done_exact/>
</app>
</app_config>

Update: started some more beta tasks, all of those are running slowly and checkpointing randomly.
BETA_BETA30_9800030_0785
BETA_BETA30_9800030_0752
BETA_BETA30_9800030_0944
BETA_BETA30_9800028_0823
